The service
Hearth & Pencil generates printable practice worksheets, grades photographed or digitally-completed work, and tracks per-skill mastery. Content is AI-generated and reviewed by algorithms, not humans — it is a practice tool for use under parental supervision, not a complete curriculum, accredited program, or record of legal homeschool compliance. You are responsible for verifying answer keys and for meeting your jurisdiction's education requirements.
Accounts & acceptable use
You must be 18+ and a parent or legal guardian to create an account. One subscription covers the students in your household. Don't resell generated content at scale, abuse the AI endpoints, or attempt to access other families' data.
Billing
Subscriptions are priced per student: $19/month for the first student and $14/month for each additional student, or $180/year for the first student and $150/year for each additional student, billed by Stripe. New subscriptions start with a 14-day free trial (30 days through a friend's gift link — see Referral program) with a card on file; the first charge is made when the trial ends. When you add or remove a student, your plan is prorated for the rest of the current billing period. Extra-sheet packs (15 sheets for $10) are one-time purchases shared by your family.
Cancel any time from Settings. Your plan stays active until the end of the current billing period, and that period is not refunded. Extra-sheet packs are non-refundable. Prices exclude sales tax, which is added at checkout where required.

Referral program (“Give a month”)
Each family has a personal gift link. A new household that signs up through it gets a 30-day free trial instead of 14 days; a card is still required, and the first charge is made when the trial ends. One free trial per household.
When a family you invited starts their trial, we add 10 extra sheets to your family's pool (up to 30 referral sheets per calendar month). Once that family has been paying for 30 days and their payment has not been refunded, we add a $19 account credit to your subscription (up to 12 credits in any 12 months). Credits are applied only to future subscription charges, have no cash value, and are not transferable. A credit is added once you have an active subscription.
Referring yourself or your own household doesn't qualify. We may review, withhold, or reverse sheets and credits obtained through abuse or self-referral. We may change or end the program at any time; rewards already credited to your account stay yours unless they were obtained through abuse.
Content
You own your family's uploads. Worksheets generated for your family are yours to print and use for personal, non-commercial homeschooling. We may review anonymized error reports to improve the service.
Warranty & liability
The service is provided "as is." AI-generated content can contain mistakes. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Foundry Operations, LLC's total liability is limited to the amount you paid in the preceding 3 months.
